# Waste analytics

> Waste data analysis by stream and type.

Navigate to [**Analytics > Waste**](https://dash.nectarclimate.com/analytics/waste) to analyze waste generation and diversion across your portfolio.

## Tabs

The page is organized into three tabs:

* **Total** — Aggregated waste metrics across all streams and types.
* **By Waste Stream** — Breaks down waste by stream (e.g., landfill, recycling, composting, hazardous).
* **By Waste Type** — Breaks down waste by material type (e.g., paper, plastic, organic, metal).

## Charts

Each tab displays a combination of:

* **Pie chart** — Shows the proportional breakdown of waste across categories.
* **Bar chart** — Shows waste volume over time, stacked by category.

Together these charts help you understand both the composition of your waste and how it trends over time.

## Key metrics

Summary metrics at the top of the page include:

| Metric             | Description                                                         |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Total Waste**    | Combined weight or volume across all streams and types              |
| **Diversion Rate** | Percentage of waste diverted from landfill (recycling + composting) |
| **Bill Count**     | Number of waste bills in the selected period                        |

## Filtering

Use the filter controls at the top of the page to adjust:

* **Date range** — Select a preset or custom start and end date.
* **Sites** — Filter to one or more specific sites.
