# Enbridge Gas

> How to connect Enbridge Gas accounts to Nectar. Enbridge requires authenticator-app MFA — use security questions if available, or email forwarding.

## Connection method: Email MFA forwarding

Enbridge Gas (Ontario, Canada) implemented mandatory MFA in December 2022. Their portal supports authenticator apps (TOTP) and may offer email-based verification as an alternative.

  **Best option: Check if security questions or email codes are available.** Enbridge's MFA options
  may include email-based codes depending on your account configuration. If email codes are
  available, managed forwarding works. If only authenticator-app codes are supported, consider
  uploading bills directly.

## Option 1: Email MFA forwarding (if available)

If your Enbridge account supports email-based verification codes:

    From [Data Input > Connections](/platform/data-input/connections), click **New connection** and select **Enbridge Gas**, or click **Reconnect** on a connection showing **MFA Token Expired**.

    Provide your Enbridge username and password — the same credentials you use at [myaccount.enbridgegas.com](https://myaccount.enbridgegas.com/sign-in).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up MFA forwarding">
    Choose **Managed forwarding** and update your Enbridge account's MFA email to the Nectar-provided address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the setup">
    Nectar triggers a test login and verifies codes arrive correctly.

## Option 2: Upload bills (if authenticator-only)

If your Enbridge account only supports authenticator-app MFA (TOTP) and no email code option is available, automated collection via portal scraping is not possible. Instead, [upload your PDF bills](/platform/data-input/uploads) directly.

## Notes

* Enbridge states they "do not own, manage or technically support MFA Authenticator applications" — they use standard TOTP apps (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.).
* MFA has been mandatory since December 1, 2022.
* For MFA setup help from Enbridge directly: 1-877-362-7434 (Mon–Fri 8am–6pm EST).

## Troubleshooting

| Issue                                     | Solution                                                                              |
| ----------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Only authenticator option available       | Upload bills directly — authenticator codes can't be forwarded to Nectar.             |
| "MFA Token Expired" with email forwarding | Verify your forwarding rule is active and the email matches.                          |
| Can't access MFA settings                 | Contact Enbridge support at 1-877-362-7434 for help resetting your MFA configuration. |
