Email connections require the email workflow feature to be enabled for your company. This
is a premium feature on some plans — contact your account manager for access.
Setting up an email connection
Navigate to Data Input > Connections > New Email Connection to launch the email connection wizard.1
Configure forwarding email
Nectar generates a unique email address for your company. Set up auto-forwarding from your
utility provider or internal mailbox to this address.

Select sites and datasource types
Choose the sites and datasource types (Electricity, Gas, Water, etc.) that this email connection
should be associated with. This helps Nectar route incoming bills to the correct accounts.
How it works
Once the email connection is active:- Bills arrive at the Nectar forwarding address via email.
- Nectar extracts PDF or image attachments from the email.
- AI-powered processing reads the bill and creates structured data.
- Processed bills appear in your Data Inventory.
Tips
- Set up auto-forwarding rules in your email client to send utility bills to Nectar automatically.
- Each email connection can handle multiple bills — you don’t need a separate connection per account.
- If a forwarded bill can’t be processed, it appears in the Needs Attention tab on the Connections page.
