Overview

Site comparison lets you divide your sites into two groups and view their analytics side by side. Each group gets its own column of widgets — KPI totals, ranked site lists, and trend charts — so you can quickly spot differences in consumption and cost. Common use cases:
  • Regional benchmarking — compare East Coast sites against West Coast sites
  • Building type analysis — compare offices against warehouses
  • Before and after — compare the same group of sites across two different time periods by adjusting the month range
  • Portfolio segmentation — compare leased properties against owned properties using site tags to guide your group selections

Getting started

1

Navigate to the comparison page

Go to Sites > Compare using the sidebar navigation or the peer page links at the top of the Sites page.
2

Set the required filters

In the filter bar, select a month range and a commodity (for example, Electricity). Both are required before any data appears.
3

Assign sites to groups

Use the Group A and Group B filters to select sites for each group. The site pickers display your portfolio organized by geographic path, so you can quickly select entire regions or individual buildings.
4

Compare the results

Once both groups have sites, analytics widgets appear in two columns. Scroll down to compare consumption trends, cost trends, KPI totals, and top-performing sites.

Understanding the filters

The comparison page has four pinned filters in the toolbar:
FilterRequiredDescription
Month rangeYesThe time period for the comparison. Select start and end months.
CommodityYesThe utility type to analyze (Electricity, Gas, Water, Waste, or Fuel).
Group ANoSites assigned to Group A. Uses a tree picker organized by geographic path.
Group BNoSites assigned to Group B. Uses the same tree picker as Group A.
The month range and commodity must be set before any analytics appear. If either is missing, the page shows an empty state with instructions. Filter selections persist in your browser session, so you can navigate away and return without losing your groups.

Reading the results

When at least one group has sites assigned, its column displays five widgets. Each widget is marked with a colored left border and a group tag (A in blue, B in orange) so you can always tell which group you are looking at.

Top sites by usage

A ranked list showing which sites in the group consumed the most during the selected period. Click any site name to open its detail sheet.

Total consumption and total cost

Two KPI cards showing the aggregate consumption and cost for the group over the selected month range.

Consumption trend

A timeseries chart showing monthly consumption over the selected period. Click any data point to open the Aggregation Inspector and see how that month’s total is composed from individual meter readings.

Cost trend

A timeseries chart showing monthly cost over the selected period.

Tips

  • Same site in both groups — A site can appear in both Group A and Group B. This is useful when you want to compare a site against a larger portfolio average.
  • Switch commodities — Change the commodity filter to instantly compare gas, water, or other utility types without re-selecting your groups.
  • Narrow the date range — Use a shorter month range to focus on seasonal patterns or recent changes.
  • Use site tags — If you have already organized sites with tags in Settings > Company > Sites, you can use those groupings as a guide when building your comparison groups.

Frequently asked questions

The comparison page supports two groups: Group A and Group B. This keeps the side-by-side layout clear and readable. If you need to compare more segments, run multiple comparisons with different group assignments.
Each comparison uses a single commodity. To compare electricity and gas for the same groups, switch the commodity filter — your group selections are preserved.
The column for that group shows a placeholder message explaining how to add sites. Analytics for the other group still display normally.
The month range and commodity filters are both required. Make sure both are set in the filter bar. Once they are filled, add sites to at least one group to see analytics.
Yes. This can be useful for comparing a single site’s performance against a portfolio average or a peer group.
Group selections are stored in your browser session. They persist while you navigate within the app but are cleared when you close the browser tab.
