A bill is a single processed utility document containing dates, charges, and usage. The Nectar API calls this a document. See glossary — bill and glossary — document.

Navigate to Data Inventory > Bills to see all processed utility bills across your portfolio.

Table columns

The bills table displays the following columns by default:

Bill dateThe billing period end date
SiteThe facility associated with the bill
AccountThe utility account number
Utility typeElectricity, gas, water, etc.
Total chargesThe total dollar amount of the bill
UsageTotal consumption for the billing period
StatusProcessing status (e.g., processed, flagged, pending)
SourceHow the bill was ingested (connection, upload, or manual)
You can customize visible columns by clicking the Columns button above the table.

Filtering

Use the filter bar above the table to narrow results. Available filters include:
  • Date range — Filter bills to a specific billing period
  • Site — Show bills for one or more sites
  • Utility type — Filter by electricity, gas, water, or other commodity types
  • Connection — Show bills from a specific connection
  • Status — Filter by processing status
Filters can be combined. Active filters appear as chips that can be individually removed.

Sorting

Click any column header to sort the table by that column. Click again to toggle between ascending and descending order. The current sort direction is indicated by an arrow icon in the column header.

Bulk actions

Select one or more rows using the checkboxes on the left side of the table to reveal bulk action options:
  • Download — Download the original bill documents for all selected rows as a ZIP archive
  • Flag — Mark selected bills for review
  • Unflag — Remove review flags from selected bills
  • Delete — Permanently remove the selected bills from your inventory

Opening a bill

Click any row in the table to open a slide-out Bill Sheet with a quick preview of the bill’s key details. From the sheet, click View full detail to navigate to the bill detail page. Bills that have been revised show a banner in the detail view indicating their revision status. See Bill detail for details on comparing and linking revisions.

FAQ

Bills may take a few minutes to process after upload. Check the Data Input > Uploads page to verify the upload status. If processing fails, the upload will show an error with details.
A flagged bill has been marked for review — either automatically by Nectar’s quality checks or manually by a team member. Open the bill detail to see the flag reason and resolve it.
Yes. Use the Data Export section to export bill data in various formats or push it to third-party integrations.
