Potomac Edison (part of FirstEnergy) offers optional email-based MFA. When enabled, it sends a one-time code to your email on login. Since MFA is optional, the simplest path is to turn it off.
Recommended: Disable MFA. Potomac Edison’s MFA is optional. Disabling it in your account security settings allows Nectar to connect with just your username and password — no forwarding setup needed.
1

Log in to your Potomac Edison account

2

Navigate to security settings

Go to My Account > Profile & Security > Security Settings.
3

Disable multi-factor authentication

Turn off the email verification / MFA option. Potomac Edison describes this as optional security that “allows you to receive an email with a one-time code.”
4

Connect in Nectar

From Data Input > Connections, click New connection > Potomac Edison and enter your credentials. No MFA configuration needed.

Option 2: Email forwarding (if MFA must stay on)

If your organization requires MFA to remain enabled:
1

Start a connection or reconnect in Nectar

Select Potomac Edison and enter your credentials.
2

Choose MFA forwarding type

  • Managed forwarding (recommended): Update your Potomac Edison account email to the Nectar-provided address.
  • Customer-inbox forwarding: Set up auto-forwarding from your inbox to Nectar’s address.
3

Confirm the setup

Nectar triggers a test login and verifies codes are arriving.
