Connection method: Email MFA forwarding

Southwest Gas uses email-based verification codes when logging in from a new device or location. Email forwarding is the standard connection method for this utility.

Setup

1

Start a new connection or reconnect

From Data Input > Connections, click New connection and select Southwest Gas, or click Reconnect on a connection showing MFA Token Expired.
2

Enter your credentials

Provide your Southwest Gas username and password — the same credentials you use at myaccount.swgas.com.
3

Choose MFA forwarding type

  • Managed forwarding (recommended): Nectar provides a unique email. Update your Southwest Gas account settings to send codes to this address.
  • Customer-inbox forwarding: Keep your existing email and set up an auto-forwarding rule to send Southwest Gas verification emails to Nectar.
4

Update your Southwest Gas account

For managed forwarding: Log in to Southwest Gas > My Profile or Account Settings > update the email address to the Nectar-provided address. For customer-inbox forwarding: Create a forwarding rule in your email client for messages from Southwest Gas containing verification or login codes.
5

Confirm in Nectar

Complete the MFA configuration step in the Nectar wizard. Nectar triggers a test login to verify that codes are arriving correctly.

Tips

  • Southwest Gas email forwarding is straightforward and typically resolves quickly once configured.
  • If you’ve already set up forwarding and replied “Done” but the connection still shows MFA Token Expired, confirm on the Southwest Gas portal that the email address update took effect.
